Stop the Militerization of
The Albany County Sheriff's
Department

Oppose the Acquisition of an MRAP
Mine Resistant Ambush Protected
Classification One vehicle

Thursday, December 5, 6:15 PM

Albany County Legislative Chambers
Albany County Court House, 16 Lodge Street, Albany, NY

“It’s armored. It’s heavy. It’s intimidating. And it’s free,” Craig Apple, the sheriff of Albany County, told AP.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple has acquired an army surplus MRAP - Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Classification One vehicle (MRAP) that was used in the war on Iraq.

What on earth do we in Albany County need such a vehicle for? Sheriff Apple is known for his support of community policing. Using such a military vehicle is in complete opposition to community policing.

Speak out against this outreageous militarization of our sheriff's department.

Speak out at the public comment periods of the Albany County Legistrature. Sign up to speak at 6:15.
