Tuesday, March 5, 2013 noon - 1pm - Preemptive Prosecution of Muslims and Repression in America

Presentation by Lynne Jackson one of the founders of Project SALAM.
Project SALAM, an internet group that believes many innocent Muslims were targeted, prosecuted, and convicted in the hysteria following 9/11 and the Bush Administration’s violations of the US Constitution. The organization’s mission is to identify as many of these cases as possible, to advocate for their release, and to make sure that their names and the injustices against them are not forgotten.
Lynne has led the effort to build a local Chicago offshoot—SALAM Illinois – to focus specifically on the Muslim prisoners held in the penitentiaries at Marion, IL, and Terre Haute, IN – many of whom are held in severe conditions in “Communications Management Units (CMUs).

Saturday, March 9 - noon-5 pm - Prisoner Solidarity Event at St. Luke's (letter writing)
Location: St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Logan Square, 2649 N. Francisco Ave. / Chicago, IL 60647
Join us as we build on the Prisoner Solidarity event held in January. The January gathering focused on writing to prisoners and building a personal connection as part of a campaign to offer long-term support and legal advocacy for people in prison. The March 9 gathering will have a specific focus on ICE detention and how we can be in solidarity with the immigrant community and with those detained.
