Mobilization For Dr. Aafia Siddiqui
Download flyer here
We have the capacity in America to do more than simply pray for her well being; we can organize and peacefully flood the streets at the federal courthouse in lower Manhattan on Thursday, September 23, 2010 (in the vicinity of the Brooklyn Bridge). We can convey the message loud and clear, ‘Not in Our Name’.
Concerned citizens, both Muslims and non-Muslims, are planning a mass mobilization in New York City for Dr. Aafia Siddiqui. We need the active support of everyone who can empathize with the plight of this young mother, sister, daughter and friend. Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is a Pakistani national who disappeared from the streets of Pakistan, along with her three young children (victims of rendition), in March 2003. Aafia spent the next five years (2003-2008) as a secretly held prisoner at U.S. controlled detention centers overseas. In July 2008, Dr. Siddiqui mysteriously reappeared on the streets of Ghazni, Afghanistan, in a weakened and disheveled state, only to be re-arrested, gravely injured by gunfire, and subsequently brought to the United States to stand trial for allegedly attempting to “murder U.S. personnel.” She was convicted, and faces sentencing on Thursday, September 23.
